Frequently asked questions
Is an LIS the same as a LIMS?
They overlap heavily. LIS traditionally focuses on patient-facing lab workflows (orders, samples, reports), while LIMS emphasizes sample and quality management for industrial labs. For a diagnostic center, the practical difference is small — what matters is the feature checklist above.
Do we need new computers or machines?
No. LabLink runs in the browser on any modern computer or tablet. Analyzer integration uses the ports your existing machines already have.
Can patients still walk in and get a paper report?
Yes. Online delivery is an addition, not a replacement — printed reports with QR codes work exactly as before.
What happens when a machine can’t connect?
The technician enters values manually in the report form. The system applies the same auto-calculations and range flags to typed values as it does to machine data.
How do we get started?
Register your center at lablink.bd/register, choose a plan, and your branded lablink.bd subdomain is generated automatically.
Do patients need to install an app or create an account?
No. The report link works in any phone browser — scanning the QR code or tapping the link is enough.
What if a patient still wants a printed copy?
Print it as always. Online delivery is in addition to the desk, not a replacement for it.
How long does a report link stay valid?
Links carry an expiry, so access ends after a set period. If a patient needs longer access, the front desk can reissue a link in seconds.
Is it safe to put medical reports online?
Access is through a signed, expiring token — not a guessable address — and only after pathologist verification. That is a stricter channel than a report photo forwarded through chat apps.
Does this work for patients in villages or with basic phones?
Yes — any phone with a browser can open the link and download the PDF. No app store, no registration.
